In 2021, with the world in lockdown from COVID-19, wildlife began to take over the empty streets and cities. Thousands of flamingos descended upon Navi Mumbai; dozens of mountain goats took a stroll down the streets of Llandudno in Wales; buffalos walked down empty highways in New Delhi; sea lions migrated from the shores to the harbor of Mar del Plata in Argentina. It was then that the creatures of the metaverse concluded that the human race had become extinct. And so, they began to emerge from the places where they had been hiding for thousands of years. I set out on a journey to find them, and the collection Metaverse Creatures and Where to Find Them was born.
